Gtklick er en simpel metronome med en nem GTK+grafisk brugerflade, der understøtter JACK-lydserveren.

Klick er en avanceret kommandolinjebaseret metronom der bruger JACK- lydserveren. Den tillader dig at definere komplekse tempokort for hele sange eller forestillinger.

En enkelt måler og tempo kan angives på kommandolinjen, mens mere komplekse tempokort kan læses fra rene tekstfiler. Alternativt er det også muligt at køre klick i interaktiv tilstand, hvor tempoet kan ændres ved kørselstid med tastaturet, eller følge tempoinformation læst fra JACK-transport.

KMetronome er en MIDI-baseret metronom, der bruger ALSA-sequenceren.

Det forventede publikum er musikere og musikstudenter. Som de solide, virkelige metronomer er det et værktøj til at holde rytmen under afspilning af musikinstrumenter.

Programmet bruger MIDI for lydoprettelse i stedet for digital lyd, hvilket tillader lav CPU-forbrug og meget præcis timing takket være ALSA-sequenceren.

Laborejo, Esperanto for »arbejdsrum« bruges til at skabe musik via notation. Det er en LilyPond-brugerflade, en MIDI-opretter og endelig en værktøjssamling til at inspirere og hjælpe med at komponere musik. Det fungerer ved at reducere musikredundans og ved at adskille layout og data.

Most elements in MuseScore are laid out automatically on a “virtual note sheet”, with a near professional-quality layout engine, but can also be positioned manually, giving you total control of every score element’s position. The capabilities of MuseScore can be extended via plugins and extensions, and the growing repository on musescore.org contains many plugins submitted by users and an active development team.

MuseScore includes a set of sounds that reproduce common instruments (as defined by General MIDI) without taking up a lot of disk space or memory providing full orchestral and band sounds (with the Drumline extension installed this includes marching percussion). The general (non-Drumline) sound font is available as musescore-general-soundfont Debian package, if you wish to reuse it with other synthesisers.) You can also load any sound font you prefer for a wider variety of sounds or for more realism.

MuseScore can import and export MIDI and MusicXML files, and it can also import from Capella and several other programs. MuseScore can export to PDF, PNG, and other graphic formats, to WAV and other audio formats such as OGG Vorbis and MP3, or to GNU Lilypond for an alternative layout and print option.

MuseScore can upload scores to musescore.com, a score sharing site, and send scrolling sheet music videos to YouTube. In addition to the desktop software, you can rehearse “on the go” with MuseScore mobile apps (which do not support note entry, but many advanced playback functions). Note that all of these are commercial or otherwise non-free offers optionally integrated with, but not part of, the Free notation program. Scrolling video scores feature the notes highlighted in the score as they sound — and highlighted on a virtual piano keyboard below.

QAbc er et simpelt grafisk program, der gør det muligt at skrive partiturer i ABC-notationen.

Program for transskription af simpel musik afspillet på (MIDI) tastatur til tekstnotation for Lilypond. GNU Solfege er et program til træning af hørelsen for X-vinduet, skrevet i Python med brug af GTK+ 3.0-biblioteker. Du kan øve harmoniske og melodiske intervaller, akkorder, skalaer og rytmer, og du kan tilføje nye øvelser med brug af et simpelt tekstfil-format.

Træning af hørelsen er et stort emne med mange forbindelser til musikteori og udøvelse af musik.

Du skal have en grundlæggende viden om musikteori for at kunne bruge dette program.

Denemo er et frit grafisk musiknotationsprogram for GNU/Linux, macOS og Windows, hvor du kan indtaste notation, der opsættes via LilyPond-musikoptegneren. Musik kan indtastes via pc'ens tastatur eller afspilles via MIDI-controlleren, eller akustisk via en mikrofon tilsluttet din computers lydkort.

FMIT er et grafisk redskab for tuning af dine musikinstrumenter, med fejl- og lydstyrkehistorik og avancerede funktioner som microtonal tuning, statistik, og forskellige visninger som waveform-form, harmonisk forhold og realtids Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT). Frescobaldi er designet til at kunne bruges på alle væsentlige operativsystemer (Linux, macOS og MS Windows). Det er navngivet efter Girolamo Frescobaldi (1583-1643), en italiensk komponist af klavermusik i den sene renæssance og tidlige barokperiode.

Dette er et simpelt system til musikkomposition lavet hovedsagelig til brug i programmer, hvor størrelsen af den kørbare fil skal minimeres, såsom 4K- og 64K-introer.

Er bygget via en modulopbygget »virtuel analog« model, hvor komponisten kan bygge synthesizerne fra bunden af via simple grundlæggende byggeblokke. Dette minimerer kodemængden krævet og afhænger mere af data, der kan komprimeres mere effektivt.

En simpel mønsterbaseret sequencer bruges til at oprette sange, der bruger op til 24 stemmer, hver kan bruge en forskellig synthesizer. Hver synthesizer kan programmeres med et antal rettelser, der kan skifte mellem mønstre.

Inkluderet med Komposter er en musikafspiller med fuld x86 assembly-kildekode samt et konverteringsprogram til at oprette nasm-includeable filer fra sangfiler. Kildekode for konverteringsprogrammet er også inkluderet.

“MMA—Musical MIDI Accompaniment” is an accompaniment generator. It creates MIDI tracks for a soloist to perform over from a user-supplied file containing chords and MMA directives.

MMA is very versatile and generates excellent tracks. It comes with an extensive user-extendable library with a variety of patterns for various popular rhythms, detailed user manuals, and several demo songs.

MMA is a command-line driven program. It creates MIDI files which are then played by a sequencer or MIDI file play program.

NtEd er et GTK+-redigeringsværktøj til partiturer. Det har til formål at være fuldstændig WYSIWYG: Det du ser på skærmen er præcis hvad du får på printerens udskrift. Partiturer kan afspilles gennem ALSA-sequenceren.

Rosegarden er et Qt-program, som tilbyder en blandet lyd/MIDI-sequencer (for afspilning og optagelse), et redigeringsprogram for flere spor, musikredigering der bruger både piano-roll og partiturnotation, MIDI-fil IO, Lilypond- og Csound-fileksport etc.

StretchPlayer kan afspille en lydfil og give dig mulighed for at trække lyden ud (uden at påvirke tonehøjde) og/eller skifte tonehøjde (uden at påvirke tiden), selv mens du lytter på den.

Impro-Visor (short for “Improvisation Advisor”) is a music notation program designed to help jazz musicians compose and hear solos similar to ones that might be improvised. The objective is to improve understanding of solo construction and tune chord changes. There are other, secondary, things it can do, such as improvise on its own. It has also been used for transcription. Because rhythm-section (e.g. piano, bass, drums) accompaniment is automatically generated from chords, Impro-Visor can be used as a play-along device. Now having a wider array of accompaniment styles, its use is not limited to jazz.

This application is used to edit/display song lyrics on a second screen/projector for use at singing events such as church services. Audiveris is an Optical Music Recognition (OMR) module. Starting from the image of a music sheet, it provides high-level logical music information compliant with the MusicXML definition. Other tools such as a Midi Sequencer, or a Composition Editor can then read and update this standard data.

There are already commercial tools in this area but Audiveris is, to our knowledge, the first Java open-source OMR tool. It is a cross-platform tool, written entirely in Java, and tested on Windows, Solaris, Linux and Mac OS.

Audiveris works with printed music sheets only, the task of recognizing hand-written scores being significantly harder.

BMC aims to become a system for translating between visual and tactile western music notation. It currently parses a subset of braille music code and can emit LilyPond input files from that. Export to other formats like MusicXML is planned. Eventually, BMC should also be able to convert from MusicXML to braille music code.

It is intended as a bridge between visual and tactile music notation, allowing for more and better cooperation between sighted and visually handicapped musicians.

There is no official upstream release yet, the code is still only available through github.

LinuxBand is a GUI front-end for MMA (Musical MIDI Accompaniment). Type in the chords, choose the groove and LinuxBand will play a musical accompaniment for you.

It’s an open source alternative to Band-in-a-Box featuring:

• Easy to use graphical interface
• Open and well-documented data format

• Output to JACK Midi to facilitate co-operation with other audio

  applications

Tab is a typesetter for lute tablature for renaissance and baroque lutes and theorboes, in both French and Italian notation. You edit a plain text file with special commands to enter the lute tablature, then you run tab to convert that input into PostScript output that you can print or display with the right program.

Ly2video is a Python script for GNU LilyPond and it's able to generate video from user's project. Videos contains moving music staff that is synchronized with playing audio.

mingus is an advanced music theory and notation package for Python with MIDI playback support. It can be used to play around with music theory, to build editors, educational tools and other applications that need to process and/or play music. It can also be used to create sheet music with LilyPond and do automated musicological analysis on chords, scales and harmonic progressions.

The MIDI package can save and load MIDI files, and -last but not least- provides a general purpose sequencer for all the containers and a FluidSynth sequencer subclass. This allows you to play all your data structures straight from Python in just a couple of lines. Most of the icky timing and MIDI code has been abstracted away for you, leaving a clean, relatively simple API.

Lastly, the extra package includes a LilyPond exporter which can be used to create sheet music in PDF, PNG and postscript. It also offers ASCII tablature and MusicXML exporting and a sound analysis module which can recognize notes and melody in raw audio data.

Qrest is a toolbox aimed at music production people. It is a GUI application written in C++ and using the Qt libraries.

It helps guessing the tempo of a musical piece, and getting the period in millisecond (and related frequency) of the most common notes durations. It also handles common note variations like dotted notes and triplets.
