Seria 1.4 GnuPG jest samodzielna i nie posiada modułów. W przeciwieństwie do wydania wersji 2 zawartego w pakiecie gnupg2, nie wspiera S/MIME i kilku innych narzędzi użytecznych w środowiskach graficznych, ale ma mniej zależności.

Pakiet gnupg został zbudowany bez libcurl. Zatem nie obsługuje serwerów kluczy HKPS. W przypadku potrzeby użycia narzędzi pomocniczych serwera kluczy, zbudowanych z libcurl i obsługujących HKPS, należy zainstalować pakiet gnupg-curl.

parcimonie is a daemon that slowly refreshes a gpg public keyring from a keyserver.

Its refreshes one OpenPGP key at a time; between every key update, parcimonie sleeps a random amount of time, long enough for the previously used Tor circuit to expire.

This process is meant to make it hard for an attacker to correlate the multiple performed key update operations.
