The list to the right includes various software projects which are of some interest to the Debian GIS Project. Currently, only a few of them are available as Debian packages. It is our goal, however, to include all software in Debian GIS which can sensibly add to a high quality Debian Pure Blend.

Et geografisk informationssystem (GIS) håndterer, analyserer og viser
databaser med geografisk information. QGIS håndterer visning af shape-fil
og redigering, rumlig datalager med PostgreSQL/PostGIS, løbende
beskyttelse, kortopbygning og et antal andre funktioner via en grænseflade
for udvidelsesmoduler. QGIS understøtter også visning af diverse formater
for georefererede rastere og Digital Elevation Model (DEM) inklusive
GeoTIFF, Arc/Info ASCII Grid og USGS ASCII DEM.

SAGA GIS (System for Automated Geoscientific Analyses) er et frit
geografisk informationssystem udviklet i åben kildekode. Programmet bruges
til redigering og analyse af delvise data. Der er inkluderet et stort antal
moduler for analyse af vektor- (punkt, linje og polygon), tabel-, net- og
billeddata. Blandt andet inkluderer pakken moduler for geostatistik,
billedklassfikation, projektioner, simulering af dynamiske processer
(hydrologi, landskabsudvikling) og terrænanalyse.
Funktionaliteten kan tilgås via en grafisk brugerflade, kommandolinjen
eller ved at brug C++-API'en.

The SpatiaLite extension enables SQLite to support spatial (geometry) data
in a way conformant to OpenGis specifications, with both WKT and WKB formats.
Spatialite also includes Virtualshape and Virtualtext to enable accessing
shapefiles and csv/text files as virtual tables.
This package contains tools useful to manage SQLite databases.

The Open Java Unified Mapping Platform (JUMP) is a GUI-based application
for viewing and processing spatial data. It includes many common spatial
and GIS functions.

- is highly modular and extensible
