INDI (Instrument-Neutral Device Interface) to rozproszony protokół sterujący oparty na języku XML, przeznaczony do obsługi przyrządów astronomicznych. INDI jest mały, elastyczny, łatwy do analizy, skalowalny i bezstanowy. Obsługuje typowe funkcje DCS, takie jak: zdalne sterowanie, gromadzenie danych, monitorowanie i wiele innych.

Pakiet zawiera serwer INDI, sterowniki dla obsługiwanych instrumentów astronomicznych oraz inne narzędzia serwera INDI.

KStars to dokładne pod względem naukowym planetarium przeznaczone na komputery stacjonarne, wizualizujące graficzną symulację nocnego nieba z dowolnego miejsca na Ziemi, w dowolnym dniu i czasie. Wyświetla 130000 gwiazd, 13000 obiektów głębokiego nieba, wszystkie 8 planet (układu słonecznego), Słońce i Księżyc oraz tysiące komet i asteroid. KStars jest adresowany do studentów oraz amatorów zajmujących się astronomią na wszystkich poziomach wtajemniczenia.

Bazę danych znanych obiektów można rozszerzać i aktualizować używając lokalnych lub zdalnych baz danych, z poziomu rozszerzalnego interfejsu użytkownika. KStars sugeruje obserwacje o szczególnym znaczeniu, takie jak konjunkcje, w odniesieniu do lokalizacji użytkownika. A dla celów wybranych przez użytkownika proponuje te, które są najlepiej widoczne.

Oprogramowanie może być wykorzystywane do planowania eksperymentów na całym świecie, m.in. dla zdalnie sterowanych usług komercyjnych. Ponadto, KStars posiada również interfejs INDI do sterowania lokalnymi teleskopami i kamerami. Użytkownicy z doświadczeniem programistycznym mogą sterować nim za pomocą skryptów za pośrednictwem magistrali środowiska KDE.

Lynkeos to aplikacja dedykowana do obróbki zdjęć astronomicznych (głównie planet) wykonanych kamerą internetową poprzez teleskop. Dzięki nakładaniu najlepszych obrazów na siebie zwiększa się stosunek sygnału do szumu, a na obrazie wynikowym widoczne są szczegóły utracone na skutek zaszumienia poszczególnych obrazów.

RTS2, or Remote Telescope System, 2nd Version, is an integrated open source package for remote observatory control under the Linux operating system. Its goals is to create a system, which you will put on computer(s) running observatory, and it will keep it running, protecting it from elements, taking images, ensuring that pointing is good, reacting to TOOs, keeping track what was done, sending you data, and helping you to do science.

RTS2 is designed to run the observatory in fully autonomous mode, picking targets from a database table, storing image meta data to the database, processing images and storing their WCS coordinates in the database and offering Virtual-Observatory enabled access to them. It is currently running on various telescope setups world-wide. For control of devices from various manufacturers we developed an abstract device layer, enabling control of all possible combinations of mounts, CCDs, photometers, roof and cupola controllers.
