La bibliothèque JEL permet aux utilisateurs d'insérer des expressions
algébriques dans leurs programmes. Étant donné que JEL convertit
directement les expressions en pseudocode Java, il accélère de façon
significative leur temps d'évaluation. Si la machine Java virtuelle de
l'utilisateur possède un compilateur JIT, les expressions sont converties
de façon transparente en code machine natif.
JEL peut être un outil très utile dans une grande variété d'applications
scientifiques incorporant des fonctions définies par l'utilisateur, par
exemple pour créer des graphiques, pour ajuster des ensembles de données et
pour résoudre des intégrales ou des équations différentielles. Des
opérations algébriques entre deux colonnes ou plus de tables de bases
données offrent un autre cas d'utilisation pertinent pour JEL.

STIL est une bibliothèque en pur Java pour l’entrée, la sortie et le
traitement génériques de données tabulaires Il présente au programmeur de
l’application une vue de la table qui semble identique qu’elle vienne d’un
fichier FITS, d’un fichier VOTable, d’un fichier texte en ASCII, d’une
requête de base de données relationnelle ou de n’importe quoi. Par
conséquent, l’application n’a pas à se préoccuper du format de stockage
des tables, que ce soit en lecture ou écriture, pouvant alors se
concentrer sur le traitement. L’idée de STIL d’une table est suffisamment
large pour inclure les métadonnées de table et de colonne ainsi que les
cellules de table qui contiennent des scalaires ou des tableaux d’une ou
plusieurs dimensions de nombres, de chaines ou d’autres types. Cela est
bien adapté pour des données astronomiques, bien qu’il soit possible de
l’utiliser aussi dans d’autres champs.
STIL prend en charge nativement une variété de formats d’entrée et sortie
(dont VOTable, FITS, SQL, ASCII, CSV, CDF, GBIN) et peut être étendu pour
en gérer d’autres.

CASSIS (Centre d'Analyse Scientifique de Spectres Infrarouges et
Submillimetriques), is suited for broad-band spectral surveys to
speed up the scientific analysis of high spectral resolution
observations. It uses a local spectroscopic database made of the two
molecular spectroscopic databases JPL and CDMS, as well as the atomic
spectroscopic database NIST. Its tools include a LTE model and the
RADEX model connected to the LAMDA molecular collisional
database. CASSIS can build a line list fitting the various
transitions of a given species and to directly produce rotational
diagrams from these lists. CASSIS is fully integrated intoHIPE, the
Herschel Interactive Processing Environment, as a plug-in.
