Anki is a program designed to help you remember facts (such as words and phrases in a foreign language) as easily, quickly and efficiently as possible. To do this, it tracks how well you remember each fact, and uses that information to optimally schedule review times.

Besides text, it supports sounds, images and rendering TeX snippets in the cards. It can synchronize card decks to a server so that you can review the deck on other computers, a web interface or mobile devices, for which versions of Anki are also available. Complete card decks offered by other users can be downloaded the same way.

Anki is extensible with plugins which can be downloaded and installed from the menu. While Anki can be used for studying anything, plugins are available with special features designed to make studying Japanese and English easier: integrated dictionary lookups, missing kanji reports, and more.

Avogadro is a molecular graphics and modelling system targeted at molecules and biomolecules. It can visualize properties like molecular orbitals or electrostatic potentials and features an intuitive molecular builder.

File formats Avogadro can read include PDB, XYZ, CML, CIF, Molden, as well as Gaussian, GAMESS and MOLPRO output.

BALLView provides fast OpenGL-based visualization of molecular structures, molecular mechanics methods (minimization, MD simulation using the AMBER, CHARMM, and MMFF94 force fields), calculation and visualization of electrostatic properties (FDPB) and molecular editing features.

BALLView can be considered a graphical user interface on the basis of BALL (Biochemical Algorithms Library) with a focus on the most common demands of protein chemists and biophysicists in particular. It is developed in the groups of Hans-Peter Lenhof (Saarland University, Saarbruecken, Germany) and Oliver Kohlbacher (University of Tuebingen, Germany). BALL is an application framework in C++ that has been specifically designed for rapid software development in Molecular Modeling and Computational Molecular Biology. It provides an extensive set of data structures as well as classes for Molecular Mechanics, advanced solvation methods, comparison and analysis of protein structures, file import/export, and visualization.

BKchem je svobodný chemický kreslicí program napsaný v Pythonu.

Mezi jeho vlastnosti patří:

Blinken vychází z elektronické hry vydané v roce 1978, ve které se hráči snaží zapamatovat sekvence s narůstající délkou. Na ciferníku zařízení jsou 4 různá barevná tlačítka, každé z nich má svou vlastní melodii. Tato tlačítka se náhodně rozsvěcí a vytváří tak sekvence, které musí hráč znovu zadat. Pokud si hráč úspěšně zapamatuje celou sekvenci světel ve správném pořadí, pokračuje do další úrovně, ve které se ona sekvence opakuje, ale je k ní navíc přidán další krok.

Cantor is an application to allow you to you use your favorite mathematical applications from within an elegant worksheet interface. It provides dialogs to assist with common tasks and allows you to share your worksheets with others.

Celestia is a free 3D astronomy program. Based on the Hipparcos Catalogue, it allows users to display objects ranging in scale from artificial satellites to entire galaxies in three dimensions using OpenGL. Unlike most planetarium software, the user is free to travel about the Universe.

This is a dummy package that selects at least one frontend for Celestia.

GChemPaint je editor 2D chemických struktur s rozhraním podporujícím otevření více dokumentů. Hotové molekuly je možno hledat na NIST Webbook a PubChem.

GCompris is a high quality educational software suite, including a large number of activities for children aged 2 to 10. Some of the activities are game orientated, but nonetheless still educational.

This is a transitional package that depends on the new series of GCompris releases (rewritten using Qt). It can be safely removed once gcompris-qt is installed.

GeoGebra is a dynamic geometry program. You can do constructions with points, vectors, segments, lines, conic sections as well as functions and change them dynamically afterwards. On the other hand, equations and coordinates can be entered directly.

Support for many geometric constructions is provided, as well as support for many calculus-based tools (derivatives, osculating circle, ...).

GeoGebra files can be exported in many different formats, or as interactive applets for web pages.

Ghemical is a computational chemistry software package written in C++. It has a graphical user interface and it supports both quantum- mechanics (semi-empirical) models and molecular mechanics models. Geometry optimization, molecular dynamics and a large set of visualization tools using OpenGL are currently available.

Ghemical relies on external code to provide the quantum-mechanical calculations. Semi-empirical methods MNDO, MINDO/3, AM1 and PM3 come from the MOPAC7 package (Public Domain), and are included in the package. The MPQC package is used to provide ab initio methods: the methods based on Hartree-Fock theory are currently supported with basis sets ranging from STO-3G to 6-31G**.

Gnumeric by si měli oblíbit především uživatelé znalí Excelu, protože jim přechod na tento program nebude činit žádné potíže.

Gnumeric je aplikací GNOME, GNOME (GNU Network Object Model Environment) je přívětivé uživatelské prostředí obsahující kolekci aplikací a nástrojů používaných uvnitř správce oken systému X Window.

KTurtle is an educational programming environment which uses the TurtleScript programming language (inspired by Logo) to make programming as easy and accessible as possible.

The user issues TurtleScript language commands to control the "turtle", which draws on the canvas, making KTurtle suitable for teaching elementary mathematics, geometry and programming.

Marble is a generic geographical map widget and framework for KDE applications. The Marble widget shows the earth as a sphere but does not require hardware acceleration. A minimal set of geographical data is included, so it can be used without an internet connection.

PyMOL is a molecular graphics system targeted at medium to large biomolecules like proteins. It can generate high-quality publication-ready molecular graphics images and animations.

Rocs aims to be a Graph Theory IDE for helping professors to show the results of a graph algorithm and also helping students to do the algorithms.

Rocs has a scripting module, done in Qt Script, that interacts with the drawn graph and every change in the graph with the script is reflected on the drawn one.

Scratch is an easy, interactive, collaborative programming environment designed for creation of interactive stories, animations, games, music, and art -- and sharing these on the web. Scratch is designed to help young people (ages 8 and up) develop 21st century learning skills. As they create Scratch projects, young people learn important mathematical and computational ideas, while also gaining a deeper understanding of the process of design.

Stellarium renders 3D photo-realistic skies in real-time. With Stellarium, you really see what you can see with your eyes, binoculars or a small telescope.

Stellarium should not be used for very high accurate calculation or ephemerids like eclipse predictions. However, it is the ideal program to prepare an observation evening with naked eye, binocular, or small telescope.

wxMaxima je grafické uživatelské rozhraní k počítačovému algebraickému systému Maxima. Zjednodušuje používání Maximy zpřístupněním jejích příkazů skrz systém menu a vstupních dialogů příkazů vyžadujících více argumentů. Také implementuje svůj vlastní zobrazovací stroj, který zobrazuje matematické symboly přímo místo jejich zobrazení znaky ASCII.

wxMaxima také umí vykreslovat 2D a 3D grafy, jednoduché animace, spojovat text a matematické výpočty a vytvářet dokumenty, exportovat vstup a výstup do TeXu a prohlížet manuál Maximy včetně indexu příkazů spolu s fulltextovým vyhledáváním.

Kayali is a Qt based Computer Algebra System (CAS) that can also be used as an advanced replacement for KDE KCalc. It is essentially a front end GUI for Maxima (and is easily extended to other CAS back-ends) and Gnuplot.
