GStreamer is a streaming media framework, based on graphs of filters which operate on media data. Its plugin-based architecture means that new data types or processing capabilities can be added simply by installing new plug-ins.

This package contains the GStreamer plugin for PulseAudio, a sound server for POSIX and WIN32 systems.

iptables is the userspace command line program used to configure the Linux packet filtering ruleset. It is targeted towards system administrators. Since Network Address Translation is also configured from the packet filter ruleset, iptables is used for this, too. The iptables package also includes ip6tables. ip6tables is used for configuring the IPv6 packet filter

This is the server from the Internet Software Consortium's implementation of DHCP.

Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) is a protocol like BOOTP (actually dhcpd includes much of the functionality of bootpd). It gives client machines "leases" for IP addresses and can automatically set their network configuration.

This is the DHCP server with LDAP patches applied to it.

This includes the Linux Terminal Server Project Administrator's Reference and other documentation for LTSP. It provides information about the theory of thin client networks, selecting appropriate server and thin client hardware, as well as how to configure specific LTSP features.

This is a complete LTSP server environment with all LTSP server features including a DHCP server, remote device access using ltspfs, remote sound using pulseaudio, network swap using NBD and more.

LTSP stands for 'Linux Terminal Server Project'.

LtspFS is a remote filesystem consisting of two parts: 1) A network server daemon that runs on the LTSP terminal. 2) A FUSE module that runs in userspace on the server, that connects with the daemon on the client.

This package contains the userspace parts for the LTSP server.

Nagios is a host/service/network monitoring and management system.

The purpose of this addon is to allow you to execute Nagios plugins on a remote host in as transparent a manner as possible.

This program runs as a background process on the remote host and processes command execution requests from the check_nrpe plugin on the Nagios host.

This dummy package is provided to support the transition from nagios-plugins-standard to monitoring-plugins-standard and should be removed afterwards.

Network Block Device (NBD) is a client/server protocol that emulates a block device (such as a hard disk, a floppy, or a CD-ROM) over the network, thus giving the system the ability to swap over the network, or to use raw network disk space for other purposes.

However, writing to one Network Block Device from different clients simultaneously is not recommended, and would probably result in data loss. If you want multiple clients to share a remote resource, use a network file system such as NFS or Coda.

This package provides the server binary for NBD.

PulseAudio bylo dříve známo též jako Polypaudio. Jedná se o zvukový server pro systémy POSIX a WIN32. Jedná se o náhradu zvukového serveru ESD s mnohem lepší reakční dobou, lepší kvalitou mixování/vzorkování a celkovou architekturou.

Některé vlastnosti PulseAudio:

• Vysoce kvalitní SW pro mixování více zvukových proudů s podporou více jak jednoho zdroje/kanálu. Používá se pro kombinaci více zvukových karet do jedné (s přizpůsobením vzorkovací frekvence).

  * Široká škála podporovaných klientských knihoven. Podporováno je ESD, ALSA, oss, libao a GStreamer. Nativní pluginy PulseAudio jsou k dispozici pro xmms a mplayer.

  * Dobré chování při nízké odezvě a velmi rychlý reakční čas při nahrávání a přehrávání. Schopnost kompletní synchronizace více přehrávaných proudů.

  * Síťová transparentnost umožňující přehrávání a nahrávání zvuku z různých počítačů a nejen z toho, na kterém to běží.

  * Rozšiřitelná architektura se zásuvnými moduly pro jackd, vícekanálové rtp, lirc a avahi.

PulseAudio, previously known as Polypaudio, is a sound server for POSIX and WIN32 systems. It is a drop in replacement for the ESD sound server with much better latency, mixing/re-sampling quality and overall architecture.

This package contains the ESD compatibility components used by some older versions of complete desktop environments, e.g., GNOME, and many useful applications. It enables a PulseAudio sound server to fully replace ESD.

PulseAudio, previously known as Polypaudio, is a sound server for POSIX and WIN32 systems. It is a drop in replacement for the ESD sound server with much better latency, mixing/re-sampling quality and overall architecture.

These tools provide command line access to various features of the PulseAudio sound server. Included tools are:

  paplay - Playback a WAV file via a PulseAudio sink.
  pacat - Cat raw audio data to a PulseAudio sink.
  parec - Cat raw audio data from a PulseAudio source.
  pacmd - Connect to PulseAudio's built-in command line control interface.
  pactl - Send a control command to a PulseAudio server.
  padsp - /dev/dsp wrapper to transparently support OSS applications.
  pax11publish - Store/retrieve PulseAudio default server/sink/source
                 settings in the X11 root window.

rdiff-backup zálohuje jeden adresář do dalšího (i přes síť). Cílový adresář pak obsahuje kopii zdrojového adresáře, samotné reverzní rozdíly jsou pak uloženy ve speciálním podadresáři tohoto cílového adresáře, takže můžete obnovovat předchozí verze souborů změněných kdesi v minulosti. Cílem je zkombinovat ty nejlepší myšlenky mirroru s inkrementálním zálohováním. rdiff-backup také udržuje informace * podadresářích, pevných odkazech, souborech dev, oprávněních, vlastnictví uid/gid, časech úprav, rozšířených atributech, acl a rozdělených zdrojích.

rdiff-backup také může fungovat v rouře, podobně jako rsync (k tomu je potřeba dostatečný průtok dat po síti). Takže ho je možno používat v kombinaci s ssh k bezpečným zálohám pevného disku na vzdálené místo a přitom jsou přenášeny pouze rozdíly. Konečně rdiff-backup se snadno používá a výchozí volby jsou nastaveny na ty rozumné hodnoty.

This package contains the client.

VNC znamená Virtual Network Computing. V podstatě se jedná o vzdálený displej, který umožňuje sledovat prostředí počítačového `desktopu' a to ne pouze u počítače, na kterém běží, ale odkudkoliv z Internetu a z celé řady různých počítačových architektur.

Tento balíček obsahuje server, ke kterému se mohou připojovat klienti VNC.

Rozdíl mezi tightvncserver a běžným vncserverem spočívá v kódování dat, optimalizovaných pro pomalá připojení. Pokud klient nepodporuje kódování jpeg nebo zlib, může použít výchozí. Pozdější verze vncserver (> 3.3.3r2) podporují nové automatické kódování, které by mělo být stejně dobré jako kódování tightvnc.

Poznámka: Tento server nepodporuje ani nepotřebuje obrazovku. Abyste něco viděli, je potřeba vncviewer. Samozřejmě, tento prohlížeč by měl být také na počítači, na kterém běží jiný operační systém v místní síti.

xrdp offers a graphical login to a remote client using RDP (the Remote Desktop Protocol). xrdp can connect to a locally created X.org session with the xorgxrdp drivers, to a VNC X11 server, and forward to another RDP server.

xrdp accepts connections from freerdp, rdesktop, and the built-in terminal server / remote desktop clients of Microsoft Windows operating systems. In the xorgxrdp (which replaces X11RDP) and VNC modes, it provides a fully functional Linux terminal server, offering an X-Window desktop to the user. In the RDP or VNC forwarding mode, any sort of desktop can be used.

iTALC makes it possible to access and guide the activities of students from the computer of the teacher. For example, with the help of iTALC a teacher can view the contents of students' screens and see if any of them need help. If so, the teacher can access the student's desktop and provide support; the student can watch the teacher's actions and learn from them. Alternatively the teacher can switch into "demo-mode", where all the students' screens show the contents of the teacher's screen. Furthermore, actions like locking students' screens, killing games, powering clients on or off, and much more can all be performed via iTALC.

This package contains the client software for iTALC, which can be controlled using italc-master.

ControlAula assists teachers in the management of a classroom with computers on the students' desktops. It also gives the students tools to share files, work in groups, and send messages to the teacher or to classmates.
