PVRG est l’implémentation JPEG du « Portable Video Research Group » de Stanford.

Ce paquet fournit l’outil en ligne de commande pvrg-jpeg. Contrairement à cjpeg/djpeg, pvrg-jpeg peut aussi compresser en « JPEG sans perte » (JPEG-LS), défini dans ITU-T T.81 et ISO/IEC IS 10918-1. Il gère aussi un seul codec 8 bits et 12 bits de compression ou décompression JPEG avec pertes.
