Audacious es un proyecto derivado de beep-media-player que es compatible con temas de Winamp y muchos códecs.

La instalación predeterminada permite utilizar los siguientes códecs:

• MP3
• Ogg Vorbis / Theora
• AAC and AAC+
• FLAC
• ALAC
• Windows Media (WMA)
• WAVE

Adicionalmente, Audacious es extensible a través de complementos y contiene otras características útiles como la posibilidad de usar LIRC. Permite muchos mas códecs que asimismo pueden agregarse mediante complementos.

Este paquete contiene el reproductor básico y los archivos de las configuraciones regionales.

El paquete bplay proporciona una sencilla utilidad de consola para reproducir archivos de vídeo y audio en los formatos VOC, Wav y muestras en crudo.

Para usar este programa necesita alguna tarjeta de sonido y el controlador apropiado configurado en el núcleo.

Cuando se ejecuta el programa se crean dos procesos que comparten una memoria de búfer. Entonces lee/escribe en el disco y el dispositivo de sonido a la vez, para que sea menos propenso a «pausas» debido a que el disco sea demasiado lento o esté demasiado ocupado.

cdown lee pistas de información y hace peticiones a la base de datos de CDDB solicitando información del CD actual. cdctrl es una utilidad de consola para controlar un dispositivo de CD-ROM interactivamente y desde scripts. cdir realiza un seguimiento del contenido de diferentes CD usando una base de datos compatible con workman.

PianoBooster is a fun way of playing along with a musical accompaniment and at the same time learning the basics of reading musical notation. The difference between playing along to a CD or a standard MIDI file is that PianoBooster listens and reacts to what you are playing on a MIDI keyboard.

To run Piano Booster you need a MIDI Piano Keyboard and a MIDI interface for the PC. If you don't have a MIDI keyboard you can still try out PianoBooster, using the PC keyboard ('x' is middle C), but a MIDI piano is really recommended.

ogg123 puede reproducir flujos de audio tanto Ogg Vorbis como FLAC.
