Debian Multimedia Graphics packages

The Create Project provides shared resources for use by creative applications such as Blender, CinePaint, the GIMP, Inkscape, and Scribus.

The package includes brushes, color swatches files, gradients, etc. , so that the user doesn't need to install all of these resources separately for each and every application that can read such data.

FractalGenerator is a Qt-based program to generate fractal images (e.g. Mandelbrot set). The size of the calculated images is only limited by the computer's virtual memory. That is, images may use the full printer resolution !

It is possible to zoom into images. Image parameters can be saved in XML files and loaded from XML files. Calculated images can be exported as PNG files.

The intention of this program is to generate graphics to be post-processed by other image tools, e.g. in order to generate nice screen backgrounds or book covers.

Gem is a loadable library for Pure Data (Pd), which adds OpenGL graphics rendering and animation to Pd. Pd is a graphical programming language and computer music system.

This package contains the core library. If you want to use external data (live video capture, film footage, still images, ...), you have to install one (or all) of the gem-plugin-* packages.

• streak (0.6): Streak-Camera simulation A streak camera images an object through a slit - thus getting a "one dimensional image". This image is propagated along the second dimension of the image plane at a constant speed. The result is a picture of the time dependency of the object.
• traditional-orton: Traditional Orton: This is an effect invented by Michael Orton in the 1990s, which consists of taking two copies of an image, one blurred, and one sharp, and mixing them to produce an image with a dreamy quality. It is especially well suited to landscape and flower photography.
• wavelet-denoise (0.3.1): Wavelet Denoise The wavelet denoise plugin is a tool to selectively reduce noise in individual channels of an image with optional RGB<->YCbCr conversion. It has a user interface to adjust the amount of denoising applied. The wavelet nature of the algorithm makes the processing quite fast.

IanniX is a graphical sequencer for digital arts, inspired by Iannis Xenakis' upic system for graphical scores. Mandelbulber2 is a ray-tracing application for drawing three-dimensional fractals, like Mandelbulb, Mandelbox, Julia, trigonometric, hypercomplex or IFS fractals. It is highly customizable and features complex shading algorithms (among the others there are shadows, depth of field, ambient occlusion).

Mandelbulber2 is also able to produce animations and has a simple built-in 3D navigator for exploring the fractals.

OpenCOLLADA is a project dedicated to join efforts using COLLADA within various DCC tools like 3ds Max, Maya, Blender and a fast SDK for reading and writing COLLADA files.

This package contains an OpenCOLLADA based validator for COLLADA files.

A portable, high level graphics toolkit for the development of high performance graphics applications such as flight simulators, games, virtual reality or scientific visualization. Providing an object orientated framework on top of OpenGL, it frees the developer from implementing and optimizing low level graphics calls, and provide many additional utilities for rapid development of graphics applications.

PDP is an extension library for Pd that allows you to manipulate movies and live video data in realtime. PDP stands for Pd Packet, the data container that is used for images in PDP.

Shutter is a feature-rich screenshot program. You can take a screenshot of a specific area, window, your whole screen, or even of a website - apply different effects to it, draw on it to highlight points, and then upload to an image hosting site, all within one window.

Whitedune can read VRML97 files, display and let the user change the scenegraph and all fields of all nodes.

The most powerful 3D modelling features of whitedune support the VRML97 Amendment1 style NURBS nodes and Superformula based PROTOs. This is mainly convenient for building some rounded shapes.

Whitedune supports some 3D inputdevices like joysticks, gamepads or all devices supported via the Xinput protocol and also quadbuffer stereo visuals.

YASW (Yet Another Scan Wizard) is an application used to correct images taken with a camera. It can be used to post process the scanning of a book or to correct an individual image taken with a camera.

Enblend é uma ferramenta para composição de imagens. Dado um conjunto de imagens que se sobrepõe de alguma forma irregular, o Enblend faz a sobreposição delas uma forma que a costura entre as imagens seja invisível, ou, pelo menos, bastante imperceptível. Ele pode, por exemplo, ser usado para agregar uma paisagem composta de várias imagens.

Ele usa o spline multiresolução de Burt & Adelson. Esta técnica tenta tornar as emendas entre as entradas invisíveis. A idéia básica é que as imagens participantes devem ser misturadas numa zona de transição proporcional em tamanho à frequencia espacial das imagens. Por exemplo, objetos como árvores e janelas têm mudança abruptas de cor. Ao misturar estas features em uma zona estreita, você não vai ser capaz de ver a emenda por que o olho já espera a mudança de cor no limite destas imagens. nuvens e céu são o oposto. Estas iamgens tem que ser misturadas cruzando uma zona de trasição larga por que qualquer mudança abrupta na cor vai ser imediatamente percebida.

Enblend não alinha imagens para você. use uma ferramenta como o Hugin ou * PanoTools para isto. os TIFFs produzidos por estes programas são exatamente o que o Enblend manipula.

FontForge is a font editor. Use it to create, edit and convert fonts in OpenType, TrueType, UFO, CID-keyed, Multiple Master, and many other formats.

This package also provides these programs and utilities:

 fontimage - produce a font thumbnail image;
 fontlint  - checks the font for certain common errors;
 sfddiff   - compare two font files.

This is a manager built with the kind of features and abilities graphic designers, layout professionals along with others have felt necessary, but modernized with some new touches.

Fontmatrix has a concept of 'tagging'. This makes it really nice to group fonts and even sub-group them logically for use in a book for instance. It also has extensive gui support for showing all glyphs in a font, previews of sample text, variable sizing and also tells what kinds of advanced Open Type features are inside each font. These features have never been seen outside of a font editor. And not least, it creates a nice PDF catalogue of user's fonts for printing or reference. In short, fontmatrix is a font manager for professionals, but is nice and user friendly.

GEGL (Generic Graphics Library) is a graph based image processing framework.

GEGL's original design was made to scratch GIMP's itches for a new compositing and processing core. This core is being designed to have minimal dependencies and a simple well defined API.

This package contains a bunch of test programs.

Hugin is a panorama photo stitching program. Essentially, Hugin is a GUI frontend for Panorama Tools. Stitching is accomplished by using several overlapping photos taken from the same location, and using control points to align and transform the photos so that they can be blended together to form a larger image. Hugin allows for the easy creation of control points between two images, optimization of the image transforms, and much more.

This package includes the following graphical interfaces, using the command-line tools provided in the hugin-tools package:

• hugin_stitch_project - Hugin batch stitcher.
• PTBatcherGUI - Batch controller for the stitching process.
• calibrate_lens_gui - Lens calibration tool.

Metapixel é um programa para gerar fotomosaicos. Ele pode gerar fotomosaicos clássicos, nos quais a imagem fonte é vista como uma matriz de retângulos de mesmo tamanho onde para cada imagem que coincida é substituída, assim como fotomosaicos no estilo colagem, nos quais partes retangulares da imagem original em posições arbitrárias (i.e. não-alinhadas a uma matriz) são substituídas por imagens coincidentes.

Este pacote adiciona um item de menu "Redimensionar imagens..." para o menu de contexto de todas as imagens. Ele abre um diálogo onde você define o tamanho da imagem e o nome do arquivo. Scribus pode ser usado para muitas tarefas; de design de panfletos a jornais, revistas, boletins informativos e pôsteres a documentação técnica.

Scribus suporta funcionalidades DTP profissionais como cores CMYK e um sistema de gerenciamento de cores para imagens de prova em software para alta qualidade de impressão de cores, opções flexíveis de criação de PDF, importação e exportação de arquivos PostScript encapsulados (encapsulate PostScript) e criação de separação em 4 cores, importação de EPS/PS e SVG como gráficos vetoriais nativos, texto em Unicode incluindo scripts da direita para a esquerda como no árabe e no hebraico via freetype. Simple Scan é uma aplicação fácil de usar, projetada para permitir que usuários conectem seu scanner e obtenham rapidamente a imagem ou documento no formato apropriado.

Simple Scan é basicamente uma interface para o SANE - que é o mesmo mecanismo que o XSANE usa. Isto significa que todos scanners existentes irão funcionar e a interface será bem testada.

AnImaL is an imaging and computer vision library written in C. Differently from most other toolkits, it is intended to provide the maximum functionality by making strong usage of similar libraries. It is intended to be a common API to the best free imaging and computer vision libraries already available, such as ImageMagick and Gandalf. By defining a common API and using external libraries, AnImaL selects the best implementation available in them to implement a particular algorithm. This way AnImaL unites the best from the other libraries it uses.

Animata is a real-time animation software, designed to create interactive background projections for concerts, theatre and dance performances, and promotional screenings.

The peculiarity of the software is that the animation - the movement of the puppets, the changes of the background - is generated in real-time, making continuous interaction possible. This ability also permits that physical sensors, cameras or other environmental variables can be attached to the animation of characters, creating a cartoon reacting to its environment. In contrast with the traditional 3D animation programs, creating characters in Animata is quite simple and takes only a few minutes. Cooka is a very simple image viewer written in C# and compiled with Mono framework. In order to handle images and to enhance image viewing, Cooka provides a simple toolbar that allows users perform some basic operation such as rotate, zoom, set as background.

Fluxus is an environment which allows you to quickly make live animation and audio programs, and change them constantly and flexibly. This idea of constant change (flux) is where it's name comes from. Fluxus does this with the aid of the Scheme programming language, which is designed for flexibility; and an interface which only needs to provide you with program code floating above the resulting visual output. This interface enables fluxus to be used for livecoding, the practice of programming as a performance art form. Most users of fluxus are naturally livecoders, and some write fluxus scripts in front of audiences, as well as using it to rapid prototype and design new programs for performance and art installation.
