Debian Astro Fedora packages

The astropy package contains core functionality and some common tools needed for performing astronomy and astrophysics research with Python.

This package contains the tools that come with astropy:

• fitscheck: Detect and fix FITS standards violations
• fits2bitmap: Create a bitmap file from a FITS image.
• fitsdiff: Compare two FITS image files and report the differences in header keywords and data.
• fitsheader: Print the header(s) of one or more FITS file(s) to the standard output in a human-readable format.
• samp_hub: SAMP Hub Server.
• volint: Check a VOTable file for compliance to the VOTable specification
• wcslint: Check the WCS keywords in a FITS file for compliance against the standards

GIMP — продвинутый редактор растровых изображений. С его помощью можно редактировать, улучшать и ретушировать фотографии или сканированные изображения, рисовать и создавать собственные изображения. GIMP содержит большое количество профессиональных инструментов и фильтров, схожих с используемыми в Photoshop. Многочисленные настройки, поддержка слоёв, контуров, масок и возможность автоматизации действий, дают полный контроль над редактируемым изображением.

GIMP поддерживает большое количество графических форматов, включая JPEG, Photoshop (.psd) и Paint Shop Pro (.psp). Также он может использоваться для сканирования и печати фотографий.

Для открытия файлов с удалённых серверов (например, через HTTP) необходимо установить пакет gvfs-backends.

Чтобы использовать MIDI-устройство (например, синтезатор) как устройство ввода в GIMP, необходимо установить пакет libasound2 и ознакомиться с руководством в /usr/share/doc/gimp/README.MIDI.

Git is popular version control system designed to handle very large projects with speed and efficiency; it is used for many high profile open source projects, most notably the Linux kernel.

Git falls in the category of distributed source code management tools. Every Git working directory is a full-fledged repository with full revision tracking capabilities, not dependent on network access or a central server.

This package provides the git graphical user interface.

If aspell is installed, it can check the spelling of commit messages as the user types.

If meld is installed, it can be used for displaying diffs and for interactive merge conflict resolution.

SEP makes the core algorithms of Source Extractor available as a library of stand-alone functions and classes. These operate directly on in-memory arrays (no FITS files or configuration files). The code is derived from the Source Extractor code base (written in C) and aims to produce results compatible with Source Extractor whenever possible.

This Python module that wraps the C library in a Pythonic API. The Python wrapper operates on NumPy arrays.

SAOImage DS9 is an astronomical imaging and data visualization application. DS9 supports FITS images and binary tables, multiple frame buffers, region manipulation, and many scale algorithms and colormaps. It provides for easy communication with external analysis tasks and is highly configurable and extensible via XPA and SAMP.

All versions and platforms support a consistent set of GUI and functional capabilities.

DS9 supports advanced features such as 2-D, 3-D and RGB frame buffers, mosaic images, tiling, blinking, geometric markers, colormap manipulation, scaling, arbitrary zoom, cropping, rotation, pan, and a variety of coordinate systems.

The GUI for DS9 is user configurable. GUI elements such as the coordinate display, panner, magnifier, horizontal and vertical graphs, button bar, and color bar can be configured via menus or the command line.

Stellarium renders 3D photo-realistic skies in real-time. With Stellarium, you really see what you can see with your eyes, binoculars or a small telescope.

Some features:

• downloadable star catalogue extensions, for up to 210 million stars,

• artificial satellites plug-in (updated from an on-line TLE database),

• telescope control plug-in (Meade LX200 and Celestron NexStar compatible).

Stellarium should not be used for very high accurate calculation or ephemerids like eclipse predictions. However, it is the ideal program to prepare an observation evening with naked eye, binocular, or small telescope.

SkyViewer is an OpenGL based program to display HEALPix-based skymaps, saved in FITS format files. The loaded skymaps can be viewed either on a 3D sphere or as a Mollweide projection. In either case, realtime panning and zooming are supported, along with rotations for the 3D sphere view, assuming you have a strong enough graphics card.
