ALSA is the Advanced Linux Sound Architecture.

Avahi je plně LGPL framework pro Multicast DNS Service Discovery. Umožňuje programům zveřejňovat a zjišťovat služby a stroje běžící na místní síti bez zvláštní konfigurace. Například můžete hned po připojení k síti hledat tiskárny pro tisk, soubory k prohlížení nebo lidi k rozhovoru.

Tento nástroj implementuje IPv4LL, "Dynamic Configuration of IPv4 Link-Local Addresses" (IETF RFC3927), protokol pro automatickou konfiguraci IP adres z místního rozsahu 169.254.0.0/16 bez nutnosti centrálního serveru. Primárně je určen pro použití v sítích ad-hoc bez serveru DHCP.

Avahi is a fully LGPL framework for Multicast DNS Service Discovery. It allows programs to publish and discover services and hosts running on a local network with no specific configuration. For example you can plug into a network and instantly find printers to print to, files to look at and people to talk to.

This package contains a user interface for discovering services.

Doplňování příkazů bash rozšiřuje standardní chování bash a umožní vám vytvářet i složité řádky jednoduše pomocí několika málo stisků kláves. Tento projekt se snaží vytvořit programovatelné doplňování příkazů vhodné pro většinu linuxových/unixových příkazů a tak zmenšit množství příkazů zadaných správci systému a programátory ručně. Přitom se vychází z běžných potřeb denní rutiny.

The Common UNIX Printing System (or CUPS(tm)) is a printing system and general replacement for lpr, lpd and the like. It supports the Internet Printing Protocol (IPP), and has its own filtering driver model for handling various document types.

This package provides the BSD commands for interacting with CUPS. It is provided separately to allow CUPS to coexist with other printing systems (to a small degree).

This dummy package is provided to support the transition from cups-pdf to printer-driver-cups-pdf and should be removed afterwards.

This package contains the dnsmasq executable and documentation, but not the infrastructure required to run it as a system daemon. For that, install the dnsmasq package.

This program will eject CD-ROMs (assuming your drive supports the CDROMEJECT ioctl). It also allows setting the autoeject feature.

On supported ATAPI/IDE multi-disc CD-ROM changers, it allows changing the active disc.

You can also use eject to properly disconnect external mass-storage devices like digital cameras or portable music players.

Program může spravovat různé klíče, každý z nich může mít své vlastní hlavní heslo. K dispozici jsou také klíče sezení, které nejsou ukládány na disk a jsou zapomenuty v okamžiku ukončení aplikace.

Tento balíček obsahuje „enginy“, které jsou skryté za tématy vzhledu pro GTK+ a GNOME aplikace. Mění způsob, kterým jsou ovládací prvky GTK+ vykreslovány. V tomto balíčku jsou zahrnuté následující:

This package provides "less", a file pager (that is, a memory-efficient utility for displaying text one screenful at a time). Less has many more features than the basic pager "more". As part of the GNU project, it is widely regarded as the standard pager on UNIX-derived systems.

Also provided are "lessecho", a simple utility for ensuring arguments with spaces are correctly quoted; "lesskey", a tool for modifying the standard (vi-like) keybindings; and "lesspipe", a filter for specific types of input, such as .doc or .txt.gz files.

This version of Mesa provides GLX and DRI capabilities: it is capable of both direct and indirect rendering. For direct rendering, it can use DRI modules from the libgl1-mesa-dri package to accelerate drawing.

This package does not include the OpenGL library itself, only the DRI modules for accelerating direct rendering.

Tento balíček obsahuje modul PAM, který automaticky odemkne klíčenky pomocí vašeho přihlašovacího hesla a zjednoduší tak používání klíčenky gnome bez ztráty jejich výhod.

GDM a gnome-screensaver začne používat tento modul hned po jeho instalaci a bude pomocí něj odemykat klíčenku při přihlášení a po odemknutí šetřiče obrazovky.

LXAppearance is a GUI application for the Lightweight X11 Desktop Environment (LXDE).

It is a new feature-rich GTK+ theme switcher able to change GTK+ themes, icon themes, and fonts used by applications. GNOME/KDE/Xfce user may use build-in theme, this works for GTK+ based lightweight desktop Environment.

LXRandR is a GUI application for the Lightweight X11 Desktop Environment (LXDE).

This is a very basic monitor config tool utilizing the X extension called RandR. It can let you change the screen resolution on the fly. Besides, when you run lxrandr with external monitor connected, its GUI will change, and show you some quick options to get your projector or external monitor working correctly.

This tool doesn't aim to be a full randr frontend. If you need the full power of RandR, get xrandr (console) or grandr (GUI) and read some tutorials.

LXRandR only gives you some easy and quick options which are intuitive. It's very suitable for laptop users who frequently uses projectors or external monitor and just want to get their work done without reading a lot of "geek-centered" manuals or command line tutorials.

LXTerminal is a VTE-based terminal emulator for the Lightweight X11 Desktop Environment (LXDE).

It supports multiple tabs and has only minimal dependencies thus being completely desktop-independent. In order to reduce memory usage and increase the performance, all instances of the terminal are sharing a single process.

NetworkManager is a system network service that manages your network devices and connections, attempting to keep active network connectivity when available. It manages ethernet, WiFi, mobile broadband (WWAN), and PPPoE devices, and provides VPN integration with a variety of different VPN services.

This package contains a systray applet for GNOME's notification area but it also works for other desktop environments which provide a systray like KDE or Xfce. It displays the available networks and allows users to easily switch between them. For encrypted networks it will prompt the user for the key/passphrase and it can optionally store them in the gnome-keyring.

This is a dummy transitional package to transition to NTPsec. It can be safely removed.

This package ensures that Open Sound System support is provided in some way. On Linux, it enables the ALSA compatibility modules. On other kernels where OSS is the default interface, no action is taken.

The purpose of this package is for applications that only support OSS to depend on it, hence preventing common "/dev/dsp not found" errors that would confuse unexperienced users.

On Linux platforms a better approach nowadays is to use osspd, which emulates OSS devices using ALSA or PulseAudio.

This package contains the Oxygen cursor theme, originally created for KDE 4.

The cursors are available in numerous colors to match the style of any desktop.

polkit is an application-level toolkit for defining and handling the policy that allows unprivileged processes to speak to privileged processes. It was previously named PolicyKit.

This transitional package depends on polkitd, the system service used by polkit, and pkexec, a setuid program analogous to sudo. They were historically packaged together, but have been separated so that users of polkitd are not required to install pkexec.

PolicyKit-gnome provides a D-Bus session bus service that is used to bring up authentication dialogs used for obtaining privileges.

This implementation was originally designed for GNOME 2, but most GNOME-based desktop environments, including GNOME 3, GNOME Flashback, and MATE, have their own built-in PolicyKit agents and no longer use this one. The remaining users of this implementation are Cinnamon, XFCE and Unity.

Samba je implementace protokolu SMB/CIFS pro Unixové systémy, poskytující podporu pro sdílení souborů a tiskáren napříč platformami Microsoft Windows, OS X a Unixovými systémy.

Tento balíček obsahuje nástroje příkazové řádky používané pro přístup k serverům Microsoft Windows a Samba včetně smbclient, smbtar a smbspool. Nástroje používané pro připojení sdílení v síti najdete v balíčku cifs-utils.

System-config-printer je GUI napsané v Pythonu používající GTK+ určené k nastavení serveru CUPS. Program primárně slouží k nastavení tiskového systému na lokálním počítači, ale můžete ho použít také pro nastavení vzdálené tiskárny.

Jinými slovy, program dělá to samé jako webový administrační nástroj CUPS, ale je integrován přímo do desktopového prostředí.

These utilities allow one to detect automatically printers using UDEV when they are plugged on the system. They are then configured automatically in the CUPS printing daemon and made available to users.

Tree is a recursive directory listing command that produces a depth indented listing of files, which is colorized ala dircolors if the LS_COLORS environment variable is set and output is to tty.

An X client is a program that interfaces with an X server (almost always via the X libraries), and thus with some input and output hardware like a graphics card, monitor, keyboard, and pointing device (such as a mouse).

This package provides a miscellaneous assortment of X utilities that ship with the X Window System, including:

• appres, editres, listres and viewres, which query the X resource database;
• xdpyinfo, a display information utility for X;
• xdriinfo, query configuration information of DRI drivers;
• xev, an X event displayer;
• xfd, a tool that displays all the glyphs in a given X font;
• xfontsel, a tool for browsing and selecting X fonts;
• xkill, a tool for terminating misbehaving X clients;
• xlsatoms, which lists interned atoms defined on an X server;
• xlsclients, which lists client applications running on an X display;
• xlsfonts, a server font list displayer;
• xmessage, a tool to display message or dialog boxes;

The editres and viewres programs use bitmap images provided by the xbitmaps package.

setxkbmap je nástroj pro zjišťování a změnu současné mapy XKB.

xkbbell generuje událost bell prostřednictvím klávesnice.

xkbcomp je nástroj pro kompilaci definic XKB do mapových souborů, které server může používat.

xkbevd je experimentální nástroj pro naslouchání jistým událostem XKB a vykonání definovaných triggerů, když nastane akce.

xkbprint je nástroj pro generování obrázku s fyzickou reprezentací klávesnice tak, jak ji vidí XKB.

xkbvleds zobrazuje měnící se stav LED na klávesnici.

xkbwatch zobrazuje měnící se stav modifikátorů a LED.

xdg-user-dirs je nástroj, který pomáhá spravovat "dobře známé" adresáře uživatelů jako je desktopový adresář a hudební adresář. Program také ovládá lokalizaci (např. překlady) jmen souborů.

Toto rozšíření nastaví záložky GTK souboru a díky sledování změn lokálních souborů umí při přihlášení upozornit uživatele jakmile se změní jméno adresáře.

xfonts-base poskytuje standardní množinu bitmapových fontů v nízkém rozlišení. Ve většině případů je vhodné mít nainstalovaný X font server (XFS) a/nebo X server, které tyto fonty zpřístupní X klientům.

This package contains configuration data used by the X Keyboard Extension (XKB), which allows selection of keyboard layouts when using a graphical interface.

Every X11 vendor provides its own XKB data files, so keyboard layout designers have to send their layouts to several places. The xkeyboard-config project has been launched at FreeDesktop in order to provide a central repository that could be used by all vendors.

The Xorg X server is an X server for several architectures and operating systems, which is derived from the XFree86 4.x series of X servers.

The Xorg server supports most modern graphics hardware from most vendors, and supersedes all XFree86 X servers.
