Debian Science Project
Summary
Devices
Debian Science specific devices support

This task lists Debian Science packages which are dedicated to specific devices that are typically used in sciences. This might reach from scientific calculators or specific measurement devices.

Note that there is no according metapackage created since the packages might be to different to make sense to install all on one machine.

Description

For a better overview of the project's availability as a Debian package, each head row has a color code according to this scheme:

If you discover a project which looks like a good candidate for Debian Science to you, or if you have prepared an unofficial Debian package, please do not hesitate to send a description of that project to the Debian Science mailing list

This package provides high level interfaces for making science experiments with an ExpEYES box.

ExpEYES is from the PHOENIX project of Inter-University Accelerator Centre, New Delhi. It is a hardware & software framework for developing science experiments, demonstrations and projects and learn science and engineering by exploration. Capable of doing real time measurements and analysing the data in different ways. Analog voltages are measured with 0.025% resolution and time intervals with one microsecond. This project is based on Free and Open Source software, mostly written in Python programming language. The hardware design is also open.

TiEmu emulates Texas Instruments calculators TI-89/92/92+/V200PLT.

It is based on XTiger, the original TI emulator for Linux, which uses the 68k emulation core from UAE (The Ultimate Amiga Emulator).

You need to either dump the ROM of your calculator (you can do so with TiLP), or get a FLASH upgrade from Texas Instrument (see the software section concerning your calculator, then download the archive and extract the file) to use this emulator. There are no TI ROMs provided in this package, as they are copyrighted by Texas Instruments, Inc.

However, a free (as in speech) ROM is now provided with TiEmu, namely PedRom. Try it out!

This version includes a VTI-style assembly debugger.

Please note it exists another version (tiemu-gdb) not provided on Debian itself which includes a GDB-style assembly debugger for use with TIGCC and/or KTIGCC.

TilEm is an emulator and debugger for Texas Instruments' Z80-based graphing calculators. It can emulate any of the following calculator models:

  • TI-73 / TI-73 Explorer
  • TI-76.fr
  • TI-81
  • TI-82
  • TI-82 STATS / TI-82 STATS.fr
  • TI-83
  • TI-83 Plus / TI-83 Plus Silver Edition / TI-83 Plus.fr
  • TI-84 Plus / TI-84 Plus Silver Edition / TI-84 pocket.fr
  • TI-85
  • TI-86 TilEm fully supports all known versions of the above calculators (as of 2012), and attempts to reproduce the behavior of the original calculator hardware as faithfully as possible. In addition, TilEm can emulate the TI-Nspire's virtual TI-84 Plus mode. This is currently experimental, and some programs may not work correctly.

TilEm runs on the X Window System on GNU/Linux and other Unix-like platforms, as well as on Microsoft Windows, and any other platform supported by the GTK+ library. In addition to the emulation, TilEm 2 provide a lot of extra features, such as:

  • Fully featured debugger
  • Grabbing screenshots and recording gif (animations)
  • Virtual linking (through libticables)
  • Flash writing and erasing
  • Application and OS loading
  • Scripting using macros
