Ferret is an interactive computer visualization and analysis environment
designed to meet the needs of oceanographers and meteorologists analyzing
large and complex gridded data sets. It can transparently access extensive
remote Internet data bases using OPeNDAP (formerly known as DODS)
Ferret has a Mathematica-like flexibility, geophysical formatting,
"intelligent" connection to its data base, memory management for very large
calculations, and symmetrical processing in 4 dimensions. It can work on both
gridded and non-gridded datasets.

The FLEXPART model is a Lagrangian Particle Dispersion Model
developed at the Norwegian Institute for Air Research in the
Department of Atmospheric and Climate Research.
The model development team consists of Andreas Stohl
(who originally wrote FLEXPART), Sabine Eckhardt,
Harald Sodemann, and John Burkhart.

Trajectory models are important tools for studying transport phenomena
in the atmosphere. In the environmental sciences, they are often used to
establish source-receptor relationships of air pollutants.
FLEXTRA can be used to calculate different types of forward or backward
trajectories, and has facilities to estimate the uncertainty of trajectories.
It is specifically designed to compute long time sequences of trajectories
for many receptor locations.
FLEXTRA may be used with the Metview meteorological workstation to
visualize trajectories.

fpzip is a library and command-line utility for lossless and optionally lossy
compression of 2D and 3D floating-point arrays. fpzip assumes spatially
correlated scalar-valued data, such as regularly sampled continuous functions,
and is not suitable for compressing unstructured streams of floating-point
numbers.
This package provides command-line utilities.

Das Grid Analysis and Display System (GrADS, System für Netzanalyse und
Anzeige) ist ein interaktives Werkzeug für den Desktop. Es wird für den
einfachen Zugriff auf, Manipulation und Visualisierung von
geowissenschaftlichen Daten eingesetzt. Das Programm kann Daten in den
Formaten binär, GRIB, NetCDF oder HDF-SDS (Scientific Data Sets)
bearbeiten. GrADS wurde weltweit für eine Vielzahl gängiger
Betriebssysteme realisiert und wird frei über das Internet vertrieben.
GrADS arbeitet mit 4-dimensionalen Daten: Länge, Breite, vertikale Ebene
(Höhe) und Zeit. Datensätze werden mittels einer Datenbeschreibungsdatei
im 4-D-Raum positioniert. GrADS wertet Stationsdaten sowie gerasterte
Daten aus. Die Netze können regelmäßige, nichtlineare, normalverteilte und
variable Abstände haben. Daten aus verschiedenen Datensätzen können mit
der richtigen räumlichen und zeitlichen Darstellung grafisch überlagert
werden. Operationen werden interaktiv durch Eingabe FORTRAN-ähnlicher
Ausdrücke auf der Kommandozeile initiiert. Ein reicher Satz von
eingebauten Funktionen ist vorhanden, die Benutzer können aber auch ihre
eigenen Funktionen als externe Routinen in einer beliebigen
Programmiersprache schreiben.
Die Daten können mit einer Vielzahl von grafischen Techniken angezeigt
werden: Linien-, Balken- und Streudiagramme, geglättete und schattierte
Konturen, Stromlinien, Wind-Vektoren, einfache oder schattierte »grid
boxes« sowie grafische Darstellungen von Stationsmodellen. Grafiken können
in PostScript oder verschiedenen Bildformaten ausgegeben werden. GrADS
bietet intuitive geophysikalische Voreinstellungen. Der Benutzer kann aber
optional alle Aspekte der Grafikausgabe kontrollieren.
GrADS verfügt über eine programmierbare Schnittstelle (Skriptsprache), die
anspruchsvolle Analyse- und Anzeigeprogramme ermöglicht. Verwenden Sie
Skripte, die Schaltflächen, aufklappende Menüs sowie Grafiken anzeigen und
dann entsprechend auf das »point-and-click« des Anwenders reagieren. GrADS
kann im Batch-Modus ausgeführt werden. Die Skriptsprache erleichtert es,
mit GrADS über Nacht umfangreiche Berechnungen (Batch-Jobs) auszuführen.

HARP is a toolset for ingesting, processing and inter-comparing satellite or
model data against correlative data. The toolset is composed of a set of
command line tools, a C library of analysis functions, and import/export
interfaces for Python. The main goal of HARP is to assist
in the inter-comparison of data sets. By appropriatelty chaining calls to
the HARP command line tools one can preprocess satellite, model, and/or
correlative data such that two datasets that need to be compared end up
having the same temporal/spatial grid, same data format/structure, and same
physical units.
This package provides the HARP binary utilities.

ecKit is a cross-platform c++ toolkit that supports development of tools and
applications at ECMWF. It is based on code developed over the last 20 years
within the MARS software and was re-factored out to be reused by other
applications. The main focus is UNIX/POSIX systems, and it has been thoroughly
tested on AIX, Linux and Mac OSX. Historically, the code base pre-dates and in
some way can be seen as a leaner substitute for some 'Boost' libraries.

Magics++ is the latest generation of the ECMWF's Meteorological plotting
software MAGICS. Although completely redesigned in C++, it is intended to be
as backwards-compatible as possible with the Fortran interface.
Besides its programming interfaces (Fortran and C), Magics++ offers MagML,
a plot description language based on XML aimed at automatic web production.
This package contains the MagcML binary that may be used with magics++.

Metview has been designed as a flexible, modular and extendible system
able to accommodate the evolving needs of the user.
The system is based on the ECMWF standards for graphics (Magics) and
data access (MARS) but can also access locally stored data.
The user interface is based on Motif and Qt. Metview is a
fully distributed system where modules can run on different workstations
and servers.
Metview is a cooperative project between ECMWF and INPE/CPTEC, Brazil.
ECMWF has also been assisted by a staff member of Météo-France.

The NCAR Command Language (NCL) is a free interpreted language designed
specifically for scientific data processing and visualization. NCL has robust
file input and output. It can read and write netCDF-3, netCDF-4 classic
HDF4, HDF5, binary, and ASCII data, and read HDF-EOS2, GRIB1 and
GRIB2. The graphics are world class and highly customizable.
The software comes with a couple of useful command line tools:
* ncl_filedump - prints the contents of supported files (netCDF, HDF,
GRIB1, GRIB2, HDF-EOS2, and CCM History Tape)
* ncl_convert2nc - converts one or more GRIB1, GRIB2, HDF and/or HDF-EOS
iles to netCDF formatted files.

This package implements the TEOS-10 Equation of State for seawater.
TEOS-10 is based on a Gibbs function formulation from which all
thermodynamic properties of seawater (density, enthalpy, entropy sound speed,
etc.) can be derived in a thermodynamically consistent manner.
TEOS-10 was adopted by the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission at its
25th Assembly in June 2009 to replace EOS-80 as the official description of
seawater and ice properties in marine science.

NetCDF version 4 has many features not found in earlier versions of the
library and is implemented on top of HDF5. This module can read and write
files in both the new netCDF 4 and the old netCDF 3 format, and can create
files that are readable by HDF5 clients. The API is modelled after
Scientific.IO.NetCDF, and should be familiar to users of that module.
Most new features of netCDF 4 are implemented, such as multiple unlimited
dimensions, groups and zlib data compression. All the new numeric data types
(such as 64 bit and unsigned integer types) are implemented. Compound and
variable length (vlen) data types are supported, but the enum and opaque data
types are not. Mixtures of compound and vlen data types (compound types
containing vlens, and vlens containing compound types) are not supported.
This package contains the netCDF 4 module for Python 3.

ParaView ist eine quelloffene, Multi-Plattform-Anwendung, konzipiert um
Datensätze unterschiedlichster Größe zu visualisieren. Die Ziele des
ParaView-Projekts:
* Entwickle eine quelloffene, Multi-Plattform-Visualisierungsanwendung.
* Unterstütze verteilt berechnete Modelle, um große Datensätze zu
verarbeiten.
* Erstelle eine offene, flexible und intuitive Benutzerschnittstelle.
* Entwickele eine erweiterbare Architektur, basierend auf offenen
Standards.
ParaView läuft auf verteiltem (distributed) und geteiltem (shared) Speicher
parallel ebenso wie auf Einzelprozessorsystemen und wurde erfolgreich
unter Windows, MacOS X, Linux und verschiedenen Unix-Arbeitsstationen,
Rechner-Clustern und Supercomputern getestet. Unter der Haube gesehen
verwendet ParaView das Visualization Toolkit als Datenverarbeitungs- und
Render-Maschine, und hat eine in Qt programmierte Benutzerschnittstelle.

OpenTURNS is a powerful and generic tool to treat and quantify
uncertainties in numerical simulations in design, optimization and
control. It allows both sensitivity and reliability analysis studies:
- defining the outputs of interest and decision criterion;
- quantify and model the source of uncertainties;
- propagate uncertainties and/or analyse sensitivity and
- rank the sources of uncertainty
Targeted users are all engineers who want to introduce the
probabilistic dimension in their so far deterministic studies.
This package provides the Python3 bindings to the library.

R ist ein System für statistische Berechnungen und Grafiken. Es besteht aus
einer Sprache mit grafischer Laufzeitumgebung und einem Debugger. Der
Zugriff auf bestimmte Systemfunktionen und die Ausführung von
Skriptdateien ist möglich.
Der Entwurf von R wurde stark von zwei existierenden Sprachen beeinflusst:
S von Becker, Chambers & Wilks und Scheme von Sussman. Während die
resultierende Sprache ein S ähnelndes Aussehen hat, stammt die Semantik
und die interne Implementierung von Scheme ab.
Der Kern von R ist eine interpretierte Programmiersprache, die
Verzweigungen und Schleifen sowie modulare Programmierung unter Verwendung
von Funktionen ermöglicht. Die meisten dem Anwender zugänglichen
Funktionen von R sind in R geschrieben. Der Anwender kann zur
Effizienzsteigerung in den Sprachen C, C++ oder Fortran geschriebene
Funktionen einsetzen, was auch viele Grundfunktionen von R ausnutzen. Die
R-Distribution enthält Funktionalitäten für eine große Zahl statistischer
Verfahren und die zugrunde liegenden mathematischen Berechnungen. Es gibt
auch eine Vielzahl von Funktionen, die zusammen eine flexible grafische
Umgebung für die Erzeugung vielfältiger grafischer Darstellungen bilden.
Zusätzlich sind mehrere tausend Erweiterungs-»Pakete« beim
Comprehensive R Archive Network (CRAN) verfügbar. Viele von ihnen
sind auch als Debian-Pakete verfügbar, deren Namen dem Schema
»r-cran-« folgen.
Dieses Metapaket vereinfacht den Übergang von dem Paket-Setup vor 1.5.0
mit seinem größeren »r-base«-Paket. Einmal installiert, kann es gefahrlos
entfernt werden und apt-get wird automatisch seine Komponenten bei
zukünftigen Upgrades aktualisieren. Die Bereitstellung dieses Pakets
ermöglicht Anwendern, nur r-base-core zu installieren, wenn sie dies
wünschen.

MBDyn is the first free general purpose Multibody Dynamics analysis software.
MBDyn features the integrated multidisciplinary simulation of multibody,
multiphysics systems, including nonlinear mechanics of rigid and flexible
bodies (geometrically exact & composite-ready beam and shell finite elements,
component mode synthesis elements, lumped elements) subjected to kinematic
constraints, along with smart materials, electric networks, active control,
hydraulic networks, and essential fixed-wing and rotorcraft aerodynamics.
MBDyn simulates the behavior of heterogeneous mechanical, aeroservoelastic
systems based on first principles equations.
MBDyn can be easily coupled to external solvers for co-simulation of
multiphysics problems, e.g. Computational Fluid Dynamics, terradynamics,
block-diagram solvers like Scicos, Scicoslab and Simulink, using C, C++ or
Python peer-side API.
MBDyn is being actively developed and used in the aerospace (aircraft,
helicopters, tiltrotors, spacecraft), wind energy (wind turbines), automotive
(cars, trucks) and mechatronic fields (industrial robots, parallel robots,
micro aerial vehicles) for the analysis and simulation of the dynamics of
complex systems.
